Full Waveguide-band OMT Design

The design of a broadband OMT with coaxial inputs(Figure 1) is described here. The OMT stucture is of the type pioneered by A Dunning. The design aim here is to achieve a return loss figure of -20 dB including the coaxial adaptors from 12 to 18 GHZ.

This OMT structure was designed to be machined as two halves as shown in Figure2 and Figure 3. The coaxial probe arrangements can be seen in Figure 4 and Figure 5. Predicted return loss performance using HFSS (by Dr Pat Foster of MAAS) is shown in Figure 7.
